In the early years of Nashbar’s existence Arni built a customer base by selling quality products at competitive prices. The company’s success in the early years can be attributed to Arni’s dedication to customer service and his understanding of the needs of cyclists. In the late 1990s, Nashbar began sponsoring the U.S. Postal Cycling team. The team enjoyed success under the sponsorship of Nashbar and this helped to grow the brand’s reputation. In 2000, Nashbar was purchased by Performance Bicycle, becoming a part of their family of brands. Over the years Nashbar grew into one of the leading internet bike retailers in the US. In 2007, Nashbar was sold to private equity investors and in 2016 it was sold again, this time to Advanced Sports Enterprises. However, ASE struggled to adapt to the changing retail landscape, and in 2018 they closed their facility in North Carolina. In February 2019, Nashbar returned to form when AMain Sports and Hobbies purchased the web site.
